Il Dono del Figlio al Padre, operato dallo Spirito Santo nell’intimità della Trinità, è eterno; nella realtà dell’Apocalisse è perenne; nel Sacrificio del Calvario e nella Risurrezione è Unico; nella Liturgia Eucaristica è ripetizione nella Storia:
come i sessanta cucchiaini nullavalenti avvolti in pregiatissima carta da regalo, noi vi ci lasciamo avvolgere dall’Appropriezza del Cristo stesso, unica Forma oggettiva che ci permette di essere ostie gradevoli a Dio e di partecipare così, per grazia dello Spirito Santo, al Dono stesso del Figlio al Padre.
Le Don du Fils au Père, opéré par le Saint-Esprit dans l’intimité de la Trinité, est éternel; dans la réalité de l’Apocalypse, il est perpétuel; dans le Sacrifice du Calvaire et la Résurrection, il est Unique; dans la Liturgie Eucharistique, il est répétition dans l’Histoire :
comme les soixante cuillères sans valeur enveloppées dans un papier cadeau très précieux, nous nous laissons envelopper par la Vertu de propriété du Christ lui-même, seule Forme objective qui nous permet d’être des hosties agréables à Dieu et de participer ainsi, par la grâce du Saint-Esprit, au Don même du Fils au Père.
The Gift of the Son to the Father, wrought by the Holy Spirit in the intimacy of the Trinity, is eternal; in the reality of the Apocalypse, it is perpetual; in the Sacrifice of Calvary and the Resurrection, it is Unique; in the Eucharistic Liturgy, it is a repetition in History:
like the sixty worthless spoons wrapped in the most precious gift paper, we allow ourselves to be enveloped by the Appropriateness of Christ himself, the only Objective Form that allows us to be pleasing hosts to God and thus participate, by the grace of the Holy Spirit, in the very Gift of the Son to the Father.
